Rose-Lake
is a beautiful, natural lake located in Rose Lake Township in Osceola County in west central (Lower) Michigan. This is approximately 25 miles south of the city of Cadillac and northwest of the town of Clare. There are many private parks and beaches on this 400-acre lake, which has almost nine miles of shoreline. Rose Lake offers fishing, boating and swimming, and other outdoor recreation in the area includes camping, hiking, golf and snowmobiling. Downhill and cross-country skiing, as well as snowboarding are available at nearby Caberfae Peak. In fact, the county of Osceola contains the highest peak in the Lower Peninsula. Five rivers run through the area; the Muskegon, Hersey, Pine, Middle Branch and Chippewa Rivers, which are known for their excellent trout fishing. The town of Cadillac is host to the popular, annual North American Snowmobile Festival, which is usually held the first weekend in February. Other Osceola County traditions include the Dulcimer Festival in Evart each July, the County Fair in August and the Draft Horse Show each Labor Day Weekend. Dozens of hotels, motels, resorts and inns can be found in the Rose Lake area, making it convenient for visitors visiting the west-central portion of the state.

Rose Lake Weather & Climate

Four distinct seasons with a lake effect that is quite strong during much of the year describes the climate of the northern region of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. The lake effect increases cloudiness and snowfall during late fall and winter, and also modifies the temperatures - keeping them cooler in the summer. Northwest Michigan sees a lot of moisture throughout the year in the form of showers and thunderstorms during the summer and snow and ice during the winter. In winter, the humidity from the lake condenses as snow when it reaches land, creating quite heavy snowfalls in some areas. During the winter, the temperature of the lakes continues to drop, and ice sometimes covers portions of the lakes. Summers are warm, but periods of extreme heat and humidity are infrequent.
