Lake-Linden
is a small town located on the Keweenaw Peninsula in Upper Michigan near Torch Lake. Called "a small town with a big heart," Lake Linden is a safe, friendly community, with historical attractions and unlimited recreational possibilities. It's home to the Houghton County Historical Museum and the Copper County Railroad Heritage Center, which was once the site of the largest copper milling operation in North America. Lake Linden is also home to a beautiful park located along the shores of Torch Lake, and a campground with full hook-up sites as well as primitive sites, showers and rest rooms. The town also has docking and a boat launch area with access to Lake Superior, a swimming area, picnicking, and a play area for children with swings, merry-go-round, slides and a climbing wall. A 2.5-mile nature trail circles the village and is accessible to the general public, but motorized vehicles are not permitted on the trail. Canoeing is available on the Traprock River, which is accessible from Torch Lake, and Lake Linden has access to a snowmobile trail that connects to the whole Keweenaw Peninsula. Lake Linden is a great little town for families, where every 4th of July is celebrated with kids' games, parades, good food, music and fireworks.

The Keweenaw Peninsula on Michigan's Upper Peninsula is a rugged wilderness area where severe winters are commonplace. The climate is greatly influenced by Lake Superior, as well as cold, dry air coming from the Arctic region. The Lake acts as a giant humidifier, increasing the moisture content of the air throughout the year. In the winter, this moisture condenses when it reaches the land, creating heavy snowfall in some areas. The shores of Lake Superior are prone to this "lake effect" snow and have recorded up to 350 inches of snow in a single year. However, average snowfall for this area is 177 days per year. In summer, the lake breezes have a cooling effect on the climate, keeping it from becoming too hot and uncomfortable. Summer humidity is rarely a problem due to the cooler temperatures.
