Arcadia
is located in the northwestern part of the state, near Lake Michigan. This area of northern Michigan offers natural beauty and a wide variety of activities for visitors. Arcadia is unique in that it is usually quite secluded, yet has miles of beautiful beach to walk, swim and play in the sand. Those you do encounter are mostly locals enjoying a quiet day at the beach. Just one mile north of Arcadia is "Inspiration Point," a scenic lookout that is the highest point anywhere on the Lake Michigan shoreline. If you love golf, you'll find plenty of opportunities in Arcadia, a total of ten challenging courses within a 20-minute drive. The new Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course has been recognized as the 2nd best new course in the U.S. Besides golf and beach activities, you will also find horseback riding, charter fishing, hang gliding, biking, jet skiing and cross-country skiing in wintertime. Casinos are located nearby, as well as Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. And, the Arcadia area is dotted with other charming towns filled with antique stores, art galleries and boutiques, just waiting to be explored.

Arcadia Weather & Climate

The lake effect is quite strong on the northwest area of Lower Michigan near the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. This area has a distinct four-season climate, although Lake Michigan helps modify temperatures, keeping them cooler in late spring and early summer, and warmer during late fall and winter. Showers and thunderstorms are common in spring and summer, and precipitation is generally evenly distributed during the crop season of April through September, receiving an average of 17.45 inches of rain during that time. The lake also acts as a giant humidifier, increasing moisture content in the air throughout the year. However, extremely hot and humid summer days are not that common and don't last long in this part of the state. Snowfall varies greatly from season to season.
